Falling Asleep While Driving

The monotonous drone of the engine,
lazy rattle of the clutch, sunlight glancing
through the windshield enough to warm
my hands. White-noise hiss of new tires
on an even highway, hardly any traffic.
Layer by layer the night strips itself of skin.
