Alfred's Puppy
by CL Bledsoe
I told you that I missed you,
that I felt like a fool,
that I tried,
but you laughed.
So I'll tell you about the time you laughed so hard
that you wet yourself at Alfred's party
and were too drunk to notice.
I'll tell you about how everyone else saw it when you bent over
to patronize Alfred's puppy.
I smiled, and pulled you up into a hug.
But you pushed me away and bent over again,
so I let you.
