Ali Rowland

A fish is the shape of a leaf: a leaf,
the shape of a hand; fingers, branches of a tree;
branches, alveoli of lungs; twigs
running stitches, like grains of rice; rice, white
piled-up snow flakes, frost lying fragile
on sands; sand, post-storm, layered with fallen leaves;
leaves in the sea opening and closing hands;
palms, fish bodies; fingers, fins and tail.
