About the Press

Ravenna prides itself on bringing together the discerning reader and the stimulating book. Our titles have been reviewed at Kirkus, The American Book Review, Rain Taxi, Bookslut, New Pages and others.

Publishing since 1999, we offer our high standards, editorial good sense, innovative and independent nature, commitment to the written word and determination to put forward high quality work in prose and poetry and other media that too often is not supported by mainstream, profit-driven publishers.

Please browse our prose and poetry titles and order online or by check to Ravenna Press Books, as you prefer. Most of our books are also listed at Amazon.com and all are available via your independent bookstore.

To the trade: For bookstore/university/wholesale discounts or other information, please email the editor.  We offer standard terms to the trade, including returns.

Please note:  We are currently closed to book-length submissions.  We are, however, reading for the Triple Series, for which we are seeking poetry (up to 600 lines on 20-25 pages) or prose (up to 3500 words.)  Each perfect bound Triple volume contains the work of three individual authors. The full series of Triple volumes and authors are displayed in T section of the alphabetical All Titles page in the Menu.  To submit, email the editor, placing Triple Series in the subject line.

Additionally, we will be reading for the upcoming anthology, STILLS; poets respond to the films of the 2025 CASCADIA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (April 24-27, Bellingham, WA and online.)

For the STILLS anthology, we are looking primarily for poetry, but also a wide range of ancillary media such as prose poems, short poetic essays, art, artistic oddity, etc., work with a poetic bent, that responds to one or more of the films shown at the festival.  NOTE: For those who do not attend the festival, reasonably priced individual tickets for online viewing are available ad poets intending to write for the anthology receive a discount.

The in-person festival runs from April 24-27, but select films will be available for online viewing May 1-11, individually or as a group, for a modest fee.  To compensate for the charge, though small, we are not charging a submission fee.
