Philip Quinn offers, in Fingers Leak their Way to the Heart, a history of his family that is both photo album and discourse on memory, relationships, perception and photography. In the cover image, there are actual fingers leaking toward the heart through the head. That works. A reviewer said of one of Quinn’s earlier works: ”Working both as metaphors and settings for the lived experience the poems document, these transit routes become analogies for language itself, which also brings people from place to place, and from person to person.” That works too.
