A Good Summer Day at Ravenna

July 14, 2010

It’s a fine day for announcing several new things at Ravenna Press.

First of all, today we announce the inaugural Cathlamet Prize for Poetry which will be awarded to a luminous and intriguing manuscript (32-40 pps. of poetry) as selected by poet Lynn Strongin. Second and Third place winners also receive a cash prize. Publication is involved, perhaps for all three place winners. Please click here for details and to read about Lynn. She is not affiliated with Ravenna Press but knows our tastes and has strong tastes of her own–we will surely find even more new and exciting writers through this project and happily introduce them to you.

Second, please check in at The Anemone Sidecar for our new issue. Chapter 8 is a departure, an issue dedicated to one collaborative poem/painting offering by poet Denis Emorine, of France, and Jennifer Bock-Nelson, US of A: “You Have To Step Forward In Dark Blue.” It is a treat, do not miss it.

Chapter 9 of The Anemone Sidecar is an open issue (already filled), followed by our themed Chapter 10: Corporeality (nearly filled) due to post in September-October. The plan is to alternate open issues with various themed issues (themes that consider birds, music, bio/auto/fictionalbiography and whatever else occurs to us as time goes on.) We read year-round for the Sidecar.

For those of you who may have missed it, these are the contributors to Chapter 7 which posted last month. It is well worth the download time.

Chapter 7 of The Anemone Sidecar:

James E. Allman, Jr., Iliya Ansky, Ethan Bernard, Harold Bowes, Craig Buchanan, Lily Cho, Wain Ewing, Ricky Garni, John Glass, Tsipi Keller, Richard Kostelanetz, Jacquie Lanthier, Cooper Renner, Matt Rittenhouse, Christopher Ryan, Lee Stern, Marguerite W. Sullivan, Bill Tremblay, Michael Tucker.
