John McKeown
Accursed
Cursing under my breath
I pull open the flat door
To get the hell away from Her.
And stop, stare, point-blank,
As if down the barrel of a gun,
At the bullet-faced Moon.
Full, freshly risen, loaded
With enough silver to free me
From that She-Wolf,
Held in the day’s spent sky.
