Love in the Time of Habanero
Love is angular atoms—
inked, rounded, the color of calx;
obscure bonnets,
pan-fired nitrogen;
red tops necking plumeria,
ammonia rays sperming dry towns;
the spooning annually
from Philly to Papua New Guinea;
polygons purpling cheeks:
split plum, split peach, cornbread, leeks.
