Mark Danowsky

Before sleep takes

I close my eyes
trying to sleep
but the faceless
lean in

     whisper

& I bend my ear
to humor them

Rugged

little blemishes
on soft hands

minor injuries really
do build character

a reminder
I have a body

a reminder
I perform functions
