Seen
of the Crime
Removed from frames
doors are no more
an invitation to sit
quietly saying nothing
than the light cast out
of victims' homes
like a drunken uncle
into shadows
makes it easier
to observe
the unraveling truth
of stars above our heads.
Tulips
(An Occupation)
Even the most ordinary words
can be cut and arranged
into a slogan
that's a thing of beauty
on a placard.
What's hard
is getting the total strangers
who notice it up there
to harmonize
as they sing along.
