Surfacing
Another day:
Tasmanian Tiger-sunlight-stripes,
A jaded bamboo sea,
Black coffee (I'm feeling mighty lonesome,
Haven't slept a wink), no cigarettes,
The kitchen's Last Supper is mocking me,
Pine cones, Alocasia crown
This humming zoo of steel.
Am I morning? A criminal's colours sweat
In my pink fist. Which one of me is cast
Upon the pyre?
Lyrics Paul Francis Webster
Decca Records 1958.
