Two Poems by James Morris

my 'never to be forgotten moment'
was in a roadside café
crags across the road
rising high in the sky
black against the sun
I was BLAZING

'Effie' Effie Breist
one of my favourite books
the 'hopeless business' of romantic love

the sunlight in her eyes happened to me
the few books out
the relishing of words—in my case—'unguent'

the death of his mother happened to me
the shuffling about
back and forth

the contempt of self
it’s me all right
I’m Krapp

my life’s Krapp
