Poems by Jim McCurry

Scherzo

The vast sultan Night sits,
mighty, implacable.
His decree to Psyche:
Keep me entertained--
if you value sunrise!

Scherzando

I'll do what I have to
to live
within reason
she thought

the man unheeded,
her patron, boss,
his two eyes flaring off
in different directions

she thinks of her dress,
dust on linen,
like a canvas,

as a child
